Essential oils are designed
literally to capture the ‘essence’ of a plant
or flower. Using many different methods, such
as distillation, cold-pressing or the CO2 method, the
scents of a desirable plant’s leaves, flowers,
bark or fruit are extracted and bottled for our use.
These oils often have specific affects on a person’s
mental or physical health, and can be strategically
used in aroma therapy. At Northern Scents, we use them
to scent the majority of our soap, lotion, and other
body care products, as well as our workplace (an industry
perk!). They impart pure, true scents and maintain the
natural collection of ingredients we strive to include
in all our products.

 Some
essential oils, like rose or jasmine, are just
too costly to use on a regular basis due to the sheer
volume of plant matter required to produce them. In these
instances, we have done some research and ‘scent-testing’,
and have settled on some wonderful fragrance oils. These
include rose, jasmine, carnation, and other pricey florals,
as well as the more obvious synthetic oils like Christmas
Spice and Seashore. Because these fragrance oils all have
an IPG base, they are also suitable for use in candlemaking.
Regardless of which one interests you, rest assured that
